Tribe Locals is run by Tribe Bikes Pty Ltd (ABN 33 640 644 757), Unit 4 / 18 Accolade Avenue, Morisset NSW 2264.

What a Local shares publicly

First name, suburb, the bikes they own, a short story, their availability and the photos they choose. Never their surname, phone number, email or address. Map pins sit at the suburb, not at a home.

What a buyer shares

Your first name and message reach the Local. Your email and mobile stay with Tribe Bikes and are used only to pass replies back to you and, if you buy a Tribe bike, to thank the Local who helped you.

Messages

All messages pass through Tribe Bikes and are stored so we can run the program, keep it safe and reward Locals. Reply STOP to any text to opt out.

Automated checks and summaries

Two things happen to messages automatically. Every message is checked for abuse before it is sent by an AI service. A message the check rates as abusive is not delivered; a person at Tribe Bikes reads it and decides. And conversations are summarised for Tribe Bikes staff by the same service, so we can see how the program is going without reading every thread.

What is sent to the service is the text of the messages and first names. Phone numbers and email addresses are not. The provider may process it overseas, is not permitted to use it to train its models, and does not keep it beyond what is needed to return the result. The checks are a tool for our staff, not a decision-maker: nobody is removed from the program by software alone.

Texts

Texts are sent through Twilio, which handles delivery and the verification codes. No text is sent between 10pm and 7am in a Local’s time zone; it waits for the morning.
